This vinyl is a faithful representation of wood, tile, or stone. Images today are taken with 3D photography so they're vibrant and crystal clear. If it's wood, you'll see the knots, grains, and swirls; in stone mimics, you'll see all the veining and color variations. With tile, colors, and patterns will pop!
There are deep beveling and embossing adds depth and dimension. Textured appearances, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered and distressed, are also available. You can have it cut into planks (LVP) or square, groutable tile-sized pieces (LVT).
Planks are made by cutting the vinyl into strips and mounting them on boards to mimic hardwood planks. Some people also use them for stone simulations, because they feel the larger format with fewer seams gives it a more continuous look, like that of a quarry slab. On the other hand, many feel the extra seams of a cut adds more realism. Some take it even further by using grout with the tile-sized pieces.
They all follow industry trends. For example, you can get gray or whitewashed floors. Copper-colored slate answers two trends: metallic colors and stone. Use some colorful tiles for bursts of color in a retro style.
